The view of Mochi Meadow to Bubble Beach was so gorgeous! They couldn’t believe how high up Moonlit Mountain they had already made it. But they weren’t there yet, they had further to climb to make it to the Moon Falls of Moonlit Mountain.
Coco pulled out the map. “It looks like we’re almost there” she said looking over it for the 10th time, “We only have to walk a little longer.”
“Ok, let’s do this!!” shouted Penny and ran up the trail. Coco followed, shouting out to Penny, warning her to pace herself.
Little did Coco know that her backpack ripped as she passed a tree. The treats in her bag started spilling out, one by one. Coco finally caught up to Penny and they continued their way up the mountain.
Little did they know that because Coco was leaving a treat trail, they were being followed by someone who was eating the treats they left behind.
Coco and Penny’s eye widened as they reached the falls. They made it! Penny was the first to take off her backpack. She ran to the base of the waterfall and started playing at the pool of the falls.
Coco sat down and opened her bag. She was getting hungry. Her backpack wasn’t as full as she thought it was. That’s funny. Coco was really looking forward to the bag of lemon drops she packed, but couldn’t find them anywhere.
“Penny,” Coco called out, “Do you have the bag of lemon drops?”
“Let me check” replied Penny.
Penny ran back over and checked her bag. It wasn’t there. “Oh no!” cried Penny, “You have a hole in your bag, it must have dropped out on the way here.
That’s when they heard someone giggling.
“I was really looking forward to those drops,” Coco snapped. “It’s not funny.”
“I didn’t giggle,” replied Penny, “I thought it was you.”
They shrugged it off and decided to eat their other snacks. They were so yummy! After a little rest, they played at the waterfall some more. The water was so cold!
Then they heard the giggle again.
“Maybe we should go…” suggested Penny, “I heard that giggle again.”
Coco agreed. They walked over to fheir bags and Coco found that hers was empty. “Hey!” cried Coco, “We still had more snacks for the hike down, where did they go?”
“Oh, don’t worry,” Penny said, “They’re here in my bag.”
After wondering how the snacks moved from one bag to another, they packed their bags and left. Moon Falls sure is a fun place to hike to, aside from the mysterious giggles. Penny and Coco tried looking around at who it could be, but didn’t see anyone on the hike down Moonlit Mountain.
But whoever it was, they sure liked candy, not a single lemon drop was found.
