Pink trees covered the park and pink petals covered the grass. A soft breeze blew, making the petals swirl to life as they fell from the trees. Penny and Coco were so excited to see the Cherry Blossom Festival over by Moonlit Mountain.
So many of their friends were there, Callie gave each of them a large cherry blossom to wear on their heads. “Now we’re really ready for the festival!” Penny was excited to wear something to match the occasion.
Coco spent all night last night making their yummy lunch. Not only did it have yummy sandwiches, but delicious treats such as cookies, brownies, and her specialty, macaroons. She made special Sakura macaroons that she was so excited for Penny to try. Coco loves seeing how happy her friends are when they eat her treats. It’s her favorite thing.
They walked through the grove for a while admiring the blossoms, taking in its fragrance, Penny was having so much fun! Coco, however, was getting hungry. She was really excited to try her Sakura macaroons. But where to sit for their picnic? Everywhere Coco looked, someone was already sitting there. All the while, Penny was running around in the petals as they danced around her. It looked fun, but Coco was so hungry.
Finally, Coco interrupted Penny, “Uh, Penny, are you ready for lunch?”
“Oh, yes! I know the perfect spot, follow me!” And Penny led the way.
They walked off the main path and toward Moonlit Mountain. Just a short ways from the path and they found the perfect shady spot with plenty of blossoms to enjoy. Coco set up the picnic and Penny helped. “This all looks so yummy, Coco! I’m so excited!” Penny said.

It was delicious. Coco was so happy to see how happy Penny was to enjoy the yummy food she made. They saved the macaroons for last. “Oh, wow!” cried Penny. “These are amazing! Thank you for making them!”
Penny gave Coco a big hug. It was the perfect lunch for a perfect day at the Cherry Blossom festival. Coco sat, admiring the blossoms in the trees while taking another bite. She could have sworn she saw a Cherry blossom tree waving hi to her, but maybe it was the wind.
