Penny was so excited. The sun was finally starting to set. This meant they could set up the fire for marshmallows!! Penny had waited so long for the marshmallows.
The sky grew dark when the fire was finally ready for roasting marshmallows. Penny pulled out the marshmallows and Coco got the roasting sticks.
The fire crackled as the marshmallows turned ooey gooey. Penny gave Coco the first marshmallow and she made herself a s’more.
On the dark beach, a little crab walked towards the fire. Penny spotted him a little behind Coco. “Look, Coco!” Penny exclaimed. “It’s our friend, Mr. Snaps!”
Mr. Snaps’ frown grew bigger at Penny (if that’s possible). He inched his way towards the marshmallows. “Oh no, Mr. Snaps. These aren’t for you,” Penny said as she pulled the bag away from Mr. Snaps.
Mr. Snaps snapped his claws at her then scuttled away. As he did so, Coco could have sworn she saw his crabby frown turn to a sad one. She pulled off a chunk of a chocolate bar and threw it over to him.
Mr. Snaps stopped, turned around to see the chocolate bar, picked it up, and ran away.
The friends went back to their s’mores night and wondered if Mr. Snaps was enjoying his chocolate bar.
