“This is going to be the most beautiful garden ever!” cried Penny.

Penny and Coco have been working so hard all week planting their new garden. Some of the new plants were already sprouting. Today they needed to water the seedlings and plant new seeds.

Penny and Coco have never planted a garden before. They were nervous and excited for this project. They were excited to try something new, but nervous it wouldn’t work out. They had been researching how to plant a garden all winter. Now it was finally Springtime. Remnants of winter still remained in the chill breeze but the sun shown so brightly, the cold wind was welcomed.

Penny and Coco had carefully planned their garden. Tomatoes in one section, roses in another. They even had plans to make their own tulip garden for next Spring! Coco loved the quiet work and Penny loved being outside. Sometimes she would stop and “Oo” and “ah” when a butterfly came by.

Coco held the watering can, and Penny held the trowel. Together, they worked their way through the garden. After Coco watered all the plants, she helped Penny plant more seeds. As they worked, they talked and dreamed about their garden. Coco talked about all the recipes she could make with their fruit and vegetables and Penny dreamed about all the beautiful flowers they’ll get to walk by and smell.

Sometimes, Penny would do a silly dance or sing a silly song to keep herself busy. This would make Coco laugh. Soon, they finished the whole garden. Everything was watered, weeded, and planted. It didn’t look like much now, but they could already tell that this was going to be a special garden.

“That was so much work!” exclaimed Penny, “But I’m so glad I got to do it with you.”

Coco smiled. She felt the same way.
